Lyrebird Cardigan - Kit 1 - Evandale

Lyrebird Cardigan: The Design

The Lyrebird Cardigan represents everything Marzena values in modern romanticism - a timeless cut, fashionable details and charming and sophisticated lace that makes a sensitive-to-beauty heart beat faster.  It's an everyday sweater and art in one.  Lyrebird was named after one of the most extraordinary Australian birds.

Lyrebird is a romantic cardigan with dropped shoulders, comfy crew neck, double layered collar, double knitted plackets and straight sleeves that provides bell-like look around the wrists.  The cardigan is fully made with intricate lace patterns and the collar and the hem are finished with 1x1 rib.  It is worked top-down and completely seamlessly.

Recommended ease: 5-12 cm / 2 – 4.75” of positive ease

Yarn Bases:

The Lyrebird Cardigan is made by holding one strand of fingering weight yarn and one strand of lace weight yarn together throughout.  Marzena's sample was made using:

• Yarn A: Louie & Lola SRS Merino Alpaca Fingering (340m / 100gm per skein) comprised of 60% Non Mulesed Merino, 40% Alpaca.
• Yarn B: Louie & Lola Suri Silk Lace (300m / 50gm per skein) comprised of 74% Baby Suri Alpaca, 26% Mulberry Silk.

Lyrebird Cardigan Meterages:

• Yarn A: 3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5) skeins of Louie & Lola SRS Merino Alpaca Fingering
• Yarn B: 3 (3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6) skeins of Louie & Lola Suri Silk Lace

• Kits will be dyed to order and will ship within 14 days.
• The kits use the same colourway dyed on both yarn bases.

All kits have been designed to meet the meterage requirements for each size. 

It is important you swatch and achieve the pattern gauge, as this will affect yarn usage.  Likewise, any pattern modifications such as additional body or sleeve length will affect yarn usage.  Should you wish to purchase an additional skein/s to enable pattern modifications please don't hesitate to Contact Us.

All yarns are hand dyed in small batches using professional quality acid dyes and heat set to ensure colours that will last.

Every effort has been made to remove any excess dye from the yarn, however a little may remain, particularly with dark and rich colours.  It is therefore recommended to gently hand wash your hand dyed projects on their own, in cold water, with wool wash or a mild detergent.
